I have developed a dynamic appreciation of Tai-Chi based on the standard moves taught.
There are three levels of Tai-Chi which correspond somewhat to the principles of other physical and paired work: focus on the individual poise, the individual movement, and the movement arising from a pair of people, their motion and emotion and intention. These correlate to Meditation, Dance/Dynamic and Martial Art forms of Tai-Chi.
Like most of my lessons, I do not possess names of things, moves and so on. The level of Tai-Chi is therefore rudimentary, not sophisticated. It is based on developing an internal sense to the motion. In terms of Dynamic Tai-Chi, the effect is to improvise movement continuously.
Three lessons provide an opening into the exploration of the dynamic inherent within Tai-Chi:
- leg strength, waist articulation, arm sung
- unlocking the yin-yang symbol
- rhythmic improvisation
- (+ explosive force technique)
This is for people who have experienced some Tai-Chi and have some reasonable confidence in their physical co-ordination. Techniques are designed to bring inherent detail to whatever move they know, a dynamic analysis of push hand forms, and improvisation of movement informed by Tai-Chi movement, with an optional primer on generating explosive power.
