ABC State is a self-organising system develops self-discipline and complements standard consequence systems in schools. Students’ individual behaviour effect whole class state which in turn determines the role of the teacher.
The ABC State is a tool which measures the degree of ‘dissipative control’, Doll.
Situating the ABC State within the philosophical tradition of phenomenologists such as Whitehead, Bakhtin, and supported by linguistic fragment analysis by Roth, towards “Organic Theory” and the indivisibility of the experienced moment; as a meta-method to support the meta-theory of transcendental dialectical critical realism by Bhaskar; a data tool operational with high density reflexive environments or third order cybernetics; and a social method of Social Inquiry, ala Shotter.
The tool is essentially meta-cognitive and social learning, providing students with a language to describe their social state and the behaviour of the adult structures around them.
The course can be delivered to individual teachers who wish to trial the tool, or to whole departments or schools. Evidence derived from student behaviour and teacher feedback, will inform academic publication to support improvement in behaviour and potentially attainment.
